Biography:
Donald Berman has been in the frontline of new music scholarship, performance and recording for over 30 years. His albums include The Unknown Ives Volumes 1 and 2, The Uncovered Ruggles (New World), the 4-CD set Americans in Rome: Music by Fellows of the American Academy in Rome, Martin Boykan: Music for Piano and Scott Wheeler: Portraits & Tributes (Bridge). Berman also recorded The Light That Is Felt: Songs of Charles Ives with Susan Narucki, and concertos by Christopher Theofanidis (Summit) and George Perle (BMOP/sound). Berman’s other recordings can be found on Naxos, ARSIS Audio, Bridge, New World, CRI, Koch, Centaur, Newport Classic, Accurate and Capstone Records.
Berman is President of The Charles Ives Society and General Editor of a three-volume series of piano music published from 2015 to 2022. He serves as Chair of Keyboard Studies at The Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
