Left Coast Chamber Ensemble | chamber ensemble
Biography:
Founded in 1992, Left Coast Chamber Ensemble is a consortium of 13 San Francisco Bay Area musicians illuminating familiar masterpieces while revealing the expressive power of the music of our time. They receive critical acclaim for performances of both new and old music.
The Financial Times of London praised their “effusive, exploratory reading of the Schumann Op. 47 piano quartet, proving that intelligent music-making is, indeed, timeless,” while the San Francisco Classical Voice noted “a devotion and loving lyricism rarely heard in contemporary music.” Left Coast has premiered over 150 new works and presents a long-running subscription concert series. The ensemble has performed at the American Academy in Rome and held residencies at the Red Note New Music Festival, the Wunsch New Music Festival, the Ernest Bloch Music Festival, the Doug Adams Gallery, and received prestigious awards from the National Endowment for the Arts and Chamber Music America’s Classical Commissioning Program.
